We’re Growing!

Role: Senior Community Gardener

Salary: £28,500 – 31,500 depending on experience + 5% pension

Are you a highly motivated person who is passionate about taking a community-led approach to increasing biodiversity, improving the potential for food growing, and developing an inclusive approach to achieving nature rich neighbourhoods within an urban setting?  If you are, our position of Senior Community Gardener offers you an opportunity to progress your career by joining a highly regarded team leading an Urban Growing programme in Islington. We are looking for someone with combined dedication to community development and a love for the natural environment, so to ensure that our work remains award winning. You must be happy to work with colleagues along with a group of dedicated volunteers, outdoors, within an inclusive urban context, all-year-round, and in all weathers.

The position of Senior Community Gardener provides you with an opportunity to develop and implement plans to maintain our Community Plant Nursery as a key learning hub and demonstrator site, where a seasonal programme includes action learning workshops and experiential learning opportunities, responding to the needs of diverse communities, gardeners with varying levels of knowledge, along with an inspiring development programme for volunteers. Further, the post will provide opportunities to progress your extensive community development and horticultural skills to the next level, by requiring you to work at both a strategic and grassroots level to ensure our work is knitted into the fabric of local communities, local policies, and strategies.

More information on our Urban Growing programme can be found here.

We particularly welcome applications from people who are under-represented in the horticulture sector, including those with Black, Asian and minority ethnic heritage, and those with disabilities.
