We’re Growing!

We are growing our highly motivated Urban Growing team by seeking people who have a good insight into, knowledge of and love for the natural environment, greening the urban environment, growing for bio-diversity, and food growing.  You will be happy to work with colleagues along with a group of dedicated volunteers, outdoors, within an inclusive urban context, all-year-round, and in all weathers.

Over the past 12 years, our small Urban Growing team here at Octopus has established a renowned community-led Urban Growing programme in Islington, working closely with local growing communities, established and emerging gardeners, with Islington Council and Universities to continually innovate our work and respond creatively to local needs.  Working across the borough, we have established a Community Plant Nursery as a learning hub and resource for local growers, to support and facilitate the maintenance of numerous estate-based community-led gardens, and work with communities to transform their neighbourhoods.  More information on our Urban Growing programme can be found here.

Our mission is to welcome everyone and create inclusive teams. We celebrate difference and encourage everyone to join us and be themselves at work. We particularly welcome applications from people who are under-represented in the growing and farming sector, including those with Black, Asian and minority ethnic heritage, and those with disabilities.

Please complete the recruitment pack and return to julie@octopuscommunities.org.uk no later than 6pm on Wednesday 29th March 2023.
