Stories from the Network - Caxton House
Caxton House have been running their Warm Place throughout the winter months, providing activities, warm meals and energy saving giveaways to local residents.
Over 70 hot meals and takeaways are distributed each week, to those attending activities on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 170 energy saving lightbulbs, and 25 draught excluders, as well as duvets, blankets, flasks, hot water bottles and microwaveable soup cups have been provided to those using the centre. These energy saving items have benefited 157 residents from the local N19 postcode, as well as some residents from neighbouring N4 and N7. Over 1,400 people used the centre between January and March 2023, attending the variety of activities provided, and benefitting from the open, warm environment.
Caxton House hosted a Cost of Living event in November, and the Debt Bus in January, these opportunities providing residents expert advice on debt, energy, benefits and more.
Future plans include energy advice sessions, energy saving workshops, a book club and more - watch this space!
