Save the Christmas Jumper!

It’s nearly that time of year again! We love Christmas and we love Christmas jumpers, but we’re on a mission to reduce waste and reuse our festive knits!

We’ve launched a campaign to #SaveTheChristmasJumper. Instead of buying a new jumper each year, why not reuse last years, add something sparkly to another jumper you own, or organise a jumper swap with your friends?

Two in five Christmas jumpers are only worn once before being thrown away, contributing to the 100 billion garments sent to landfill globally each year. The UK is the 4th largest producer of textile waste in Europe, and we want this to change. Alongside our Relish Embellish project, where five Octopus members are running regular textile transformation workshops, we wanted to spread the sustainable message further and encourage more people to save their jumpers!

Get involved online by sharing what you’re going to do to save your Christmas jumper, share photos of the jumpers you’ve embellished, or the Christmas jumper swap you’ve organised with friends. We can’t wait to see as many Christmas jumpers saved as possible!
